Achievement Roll-Call!

February 23, 2009

Happy Monday! Akromah had a busy, BUSY weekend. (Leota did as well, but we’ll save that for World’s Worst Mage Wednesday)

The Warlock and I was asked to go on what was sort of a pick-up guild raid of Naxx-10.

Tanks: Protection Warrior, Frost Death Knight
DPS: Shadow Priest, 2 Marksman Hunters, 2 Combat Rogues, my guy The Warlock (affliction)
Heals: Holy Priest, and yours truly, the Holy Paladin.

Also many thanks to the other guildies who swapped in as needed: Hybrid Death Knight, Elemental Shaman & the Frost Mage (Leota’s mentor) who came in on Sunday.

On Saturday we tore through all four quarters except Thaddius with only 2 wipes. The first wipe was on Heigan, and was the funniest wipe we had since half of us got locked out of Netherspite last year. Simply put, everyone on the platform went down to zone one 5 seconds before the teleport. We were splooshed by the poison wave, leaving only the tank and a rogue up. It was a matter of one person twitching and everyone moving en masse. We are a well oiled machine. 🙂

On Thaddius, we wiped once, because one of tanks died right after a tank throw. I saw him coming toward my platform and he was dead when he hit it. Lag? I have no idea. At that point, we broke for the day.

I am very bad with rightside/leftside issues, so I relied on postit notes to tell me where to stand with what polarity charge.

Sunday we finished Thaddius, and after a bit, took down Sapphiron and Kel’Thuzad. I’ll be honest, it took us a while. We’re still a very casual guild, so we break for dinners and kid issues and such. We were going to go onto Malygos, but half of the raid (myself included) was burned out.

We only needed the two healers for most of the raid. The Shadow Priest helped with healing on the Four Horseman fight, and respecced Holy for Sapphiron after a few tries. He stayed Holy for Kel’Thuzad, but for future tries we’ll go back to two healers for that one. With the exception of the “OMG ICE TOMB! HEAL NOW!” emergencies, the Holy Priest and I managed it very well.

For Sapphiron (which to me was harder than Kel’Thuzad) most of us wore frost resist gear. Akromah had 3 pieces, but only used two because I felt she took too much of a healing hit when I swapped her chest piece the first time. With her paladin frost resist aura, she had 302 frost resistance for the fight.

Those victories combined with an amazing 5,000th Honorable kill gave Akromah these achievements for the weekend:

Then The Warlock and I tidied up the apartment, each earning this one:

woot!

woot!

That one was created from the WoW Achievement Generator at MMOCLuster.com. Warning…addictive!

So shout it out! Big or small, what did you achieve this weekend?

(Webkeeping: New header is from Kel’Thuzad’s room after Naxx is finished. See the portal out to the lovely outdoors? I took down the old header because V-Day is SO last week. However, since we were both sick for it, The Warlock and I are going out to dinner tonight to celebrate! Past headers can be found here!)

No actual Achievements per se, but Clag hit level 39 and can now use his humongous Aegis of the Scarlet Commander shield, to go with the Scarlet Leggings he picked up on a milk-run thru the Monastery last week.

Also, rolled the first Hyjal alt, Forti the troll hunter (hunter who’s a troll, not one who hunts trolls ^_^) and got him started down that long, long road to 80…

One more thing, re: the new header: Is that background, or is the baby blizzard bear wearing a dunce cap?

Grats to Clag!! You’ll be halfway to 80 before you know it!

And that’s the background, although my Baby Blizzard Bear is really dumb. He spends fights sitting down staring at a wall instead of the action
