We took down Flame Leviathan!

April 19, 2009
Boom!

We'd have taken a nice guild screenshot, but The Rogue accidentally mined the boss shortly after this shot.

It took about 2 hours because we sort of enjoy piecing things out ourselves rather than looking things up in advance. (Well, I look things up, but still).

Our vehicle makeup was:

  • 2 siege engines
  • 2 demolishers
  • 2 choppers

The vehicular combat was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. Being a Wintergrasp girl, it was second nature. The Rogue and I piloted a siege engine, and it was fun kiting the boss around.

I also loved running over the iron dwarves.

Best part? I didn’t have to heal! I hear this instance is better suited for non-paladin healers. Darn my lack of AoE heals. :/

    That. Was. So. Much. Fun.

Piecing it together and just figuring it out as one goes along is a wonderful way to see new content, provided that everyone in the group understands that the run is exploratory, and will entail a lot of wipes and the resultant repair costs (/pity plate-wearers). It’s a great team-building exercise and a fun way to come up with new strategies.

That being said, now that we’ve seen it, a perusal of the posted strategies for Flame Leviathan will probably be beneficial to ensure that we can consistently take him down and then stumble blindly into the NEXT boss.
